Dangers of Texting

Anyone can see that texting is a very popular activity.  Some people are texting the minute their eyes open in the morning about school, where to meet up, etc.  But everyone who does it should be aware of the dangers.

They seem to almost need their texting devices as if it’s their connection to the world.  Groups of kids hanging out together are on their phones texting other kids.  They are also driving their cars while texting.  Some studies have shown that texting while driving is 23.2 times as high as non-distracted driving for risk of a crash or near crash event to occur.  It only takes a second to run into the back of a car or to get blasted by another car because you didn’t see it coming.

Walking while texting is dangerous because holding your head down while your walking, makes you less aware of your surroundings making you become vulnerable and an easy target for predators, vehicles, etc.  You read in the news about how a person was killed while texting someone.  They weren’t aware of their surroundings.  Texting accidents are becoming so common place and so dangerous that lawmakers are proposing banning of texting devices of any kind while crossing at the cross-walks or while driving.
